How to ADD

Addition: Denoted by Plus Symbol "+"


Addition is one of the four elementary, mathematical operations of arithmetic; with others being subtraction, multiplication and division. The addition of two whole numbers is the total sum of those two quantities combined. Performing addition is one of the simplest numerical tasks. The slide on the right provides an easy to count method to add two numbers, especially for toddlers.











Addition Involving Carry:


On adding two or more digits we may get, a number with 'more than one digit' as the sum. In that case we take all the digits other than rightmost digit as CARRY. This carry is added with the next set of digits to be added.

How to SUBTRACT

Subtraction: Denoted by Minus Symbol "-"


Subtraction is a mathematical operation that represents the operation of removing objects from a collection. It is signified by the minus sign (−).
To perform a simple subtraction we can follow the illustration on the right.
